Curriculum Overview for 2010-2011

Hello!

I am happy to be able to have age separation this upcoming school year. I have always taught mixed ages (3,4,&5's) and I like how the little ones learn from the older children, it is a great example of positive peer pressure and modeling.

This year, however, I am excited to have a 3 year old class and a separate pre-kindergarten class.

If your child attended either of my sessions of preschool this year, don't be worried. I will be offering a whole new curriculum this year for both age groups.

I am used to teaching 5 days a week for the past 10 years, so I have a ton of curriculum ideas that I am itching to use.

For the 3 year old class I will be focusing on the following areas:
-colors
-shapes
-letters
-sounds
-numbers/counting
-small motor skills (cutting, pre-writing)
-social skills
-classroom skills
-music
-sign language
-science
-dramatic play
-sensory
-art

For the 4 year old class I will be focusing on the following areas:
-letters
-sounds
-pre-reading
-reading
-pre-writing
-writing
-numbers/counting
-patterns
-small motor skills
-classroom skills
-social skills
-music
-sign language
-science
-sensory
-art

Every child learns at a different pace, I am willing to work with your child at their own pace to learn and grow. Most importantly I want your child to feel loved and know that school is a fun, safe, exciting place to be!

Fall Preschool Registration

Just a reminder: Preschool Registration for the 2010-2011 school year begins today!

Tuesday/Thursday Classes
AM 9:30-11:30

PM 12:15-2:15

I am trying to keep the 3 year old's in the morning class and 4 year old's in the afternoon class.

There is a $50 non-refundable fee to secure your child's spot. Tuition is $45/month. We will follow the Alpine School District Schedule.

Valentine Party

Hello!

I am in need of just a few things for the Valentine Party on Thursday the 11th. We will all meet at 9:30 and the party will go until 11:30.

We will be exchanging Valentines, so there will be a total of 14 children. It is probably best if you just sign your child's name only and leave the 'To' part generic so it eases the passing out stress.

If you can help with any of the following that would be great!

Field Trip

We are going on a field trip Thursday February 4th to the Grocery Store. We will meet at my house at 9:30 am. I need a few parents to drive and help chaperone. Please let me know if you can help and how many (besides your child) you can take. Let me know if you can go or want to go even if you can only take one other child. Then I will be able to work out the logistics.

I have the opportunity to be the room mom for Remy’s first grade class and usually the parties fall on a non-preschool day. This month, the class is celebrating the 100th day of school on Thursday January 28th. I would like to move preschool to Wednesday January 27th. Please let me know if this is a problem for you. Also, a little change in next years schedule from the one I sent home on the newsletter. Afternoon class is 12:15-2:15 instead of 12:30-2:30. I would like to try to have the 3 year olds in the am class and the 4 year olds in the pm class, but I am flexible if you have a specific need. Thanks!!
